Polymer modification

ITW has developed and patented a technology
for polymer modification/dissolution.
ITW technology has been able to modify, as a first time ever, polymers in a
butadiene unit.
This allowed the removal of a great portion
of the polymer during the circulation of a patented chemical, thereby
removing about 80%of the polymer which was originally present.
Of the same importance, trays have been
cleaned without the need for dismounting them, as was necessary in previous
turnarounds.
Subsequent to polymer modification and online
cleaning, ITW Improved Degassing/Decontamination technology achieved a fast
and efficient compliance with safe entry conditions in confined spaces.
Some additional petrochemical
applications of the technology include:
- Ethylene
-
Styrene
-
Cumene
-
LD-PE
-
HDPE
This new technology opens up new
scenarios in refinery applications, including:
- FCCUs
- Reformers and HDS units
- Depropanizer/debutanizer columns and
bottoms
-
Texas
towers, vertical combined feed effluent exchangers
ITW Improved Degassing/Decontamination
ITW Improved Degassing/Decontamination uses a chemical to be added during steam-out, which will significantly reduce steam-out time and hence refinery downtime.
At the same time, this chemical will eliminate:
i) any noxious odour during steam-out;
ii) any pyrophoric iron problems.
The chemical does not create any emulsion and is biodegradable, therefore condensates can very easily handled in the waste water treatment plant.
ITW technology can therefore replace the classic technology using water sprays and/or flooding the vessel.
In view of your turnaround, or any operating need, ITW technologies can easily help you in reducing downtime and improving productivity, safety and reliability, as well as reducing overall costs.
